The city of Samobor has allocated funds for a one-off payment of 200 euros for the purchase of textbooks and other educational materials for the 2026/27 academic year. This right is available to regular students in secondary schools who are Croatian citizens with permanent residence in the area of Samobor. Students must be enrolled in the new academic year and attend secondary school in Samobor or other local self-governing units, excluding the City of Zagreb.
Students who have already received textbooks or funds for their purchase from other sources are not eligible for this payment. Applications can be submitted in person at the Samobor City Administration's registry office, by post, or by email. The deadline for submitting applications is from 24 August to 20 September. The payment will be made at the FINA branch in Samoborn between 28 September and 24 October.
In addition to the one-off payment, the city of Samobor provides exercise books and other additional educational materials for primary school children in its area. The local authority is also providing gifts for first-year students. These measures are part of a broader package of support for education provided by the local authority to facilitate preparations for the upcoming school year.
On the other hand, the municipality of Podravski Sesvete has announced a subsidy for students living in student hostels for the next academic year. The subsidy is 60 euros per month and is available to regular students in secondary schools regardless of their social status. The student must have a permanent residence in the area of the municipality of Podravski Sesvete, and at least one parent or guardian must have had a permanent residence in that municipality for at least six months prior to submitting the application.
The subsidy for accommodation costs applies to the period from 7 September to 30 June 2027. The costs of the student hostel must not be subsidised from other sources, and the student must not have outstanding debts to the municipality of Podravski Sesvete. The funds will be paid to the student hostel once a month against an issued invoice.
The deadline for submitting applications to the municipality of Podravski Sesvete is 16 October. This measure is an additional support for students from this area who continue their education in student hostels, thereby reducing the financial burden on families during the school year.
