Ličko-Senjska County has received nearly €337,000 in grant funding to strengthen healthcare. The agreement was signed over the weekend, Novi List reports.
The funding is allocated to an investment in primary and specialist healthcare facilities. The agreement was signed by County President Ernest Petry, Croatian Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds Nataša Mikuš Žigman, director of the Fund for the Development and Special Purposes of the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar (SAFU) Dragan Jelić, and Croatian Minister of Health Irena Hrstić.
The funds come from a call under the 2021–2027 Competitiveness and Cohesion programme. The programme’s aim is to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure equal access to care. It also promotes a transition from institutional care to care provided in the home and community.
President Petzer explained that the Fund for the Development and Special Purposes of the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar (SAFU) first conducted a consolidated phase. This involved an administrative check and an assessment of the eligibility of the applicant, the project, the activities, and the costs. It was determined that the project met all the required criteria.
The decision on financing was made on 9 June 2026, with the county being allocated exactly €337,011.93. This amount covers 100 per cent of the project’s eligible costs. At the same time, it is the highest amount that could be allocated under this agreement.
In addition to the county, the agreement was signed by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds as the managing authority, the Fund for the Development and Special Purposes of the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar (SAFU) as the intermediate body, and the Ministry of Health as the sectoral authority. The county authorities state that this continues the investment in the healthcare sector, which brings new developments week by week.
