Two 19-year-olds committed an offence on the night of 9 to 10 August, resulting in material damage and a fire on the island of Pašman. The young men, on Sunday 9 August, at around 23:30, took a van. After taking control of the vehicle, they headed to the neighbouring island, specifically to the settlement of Neviđani, bridging the water gap between the two islands.

During the drive, the vehicle struck a metal lamppost. The impact caused a spark that ignited the surrounding low vegetation. The fire spread quickly, engulfing nearby trees, including olive and fig trees. Although firefighters arrived on the scene and extinguished the blaze, damage to the vegetation had already occurred.

According to available information, the police filed a criminal report against the two 19-year-olds. The State Attorney's Office in Zadar, as the competent authority, has taken over the case for further proceedings. This incident, which occurred due to carelessness, highlights the risks of careless vehicle handling, particularly during night hours in terrain requiring caution. Police have urged the public to exercise caution, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and driving responsibly.
