Leading Norwegian baroque ensemble Barokkanerne, together with violinist Ragnhild Hemsing, will perform tomorrow at 21:30 in the atrium of Knežev Dvor (Princes' Palace). This concert offers the Croatian audience the chance to enjoy Hemsing’s performances for the first time; she is also an artist specialising in the hardanger fiddle.
The programme, titled “Norwegian Seasons”, combines traditional Norwegian music with works by giants of the baroque repertoire. The evening will open with the traditional Norwegian piece “Lydarlått”, followed by performances of works by Marin Marais, Johann Friedrich Fasch and Antonio Vivaldi.
Vivaldi’s concertos from the cycle “The Four Seasons” – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – hold a special place in the programme. These famous concertos are performed in special arrangements adapted for the hardanger fiddle and the ensemble, highlighting the unique sound brought by this Norwegian instrument.
Barokkanerne comprises Kinga Ujszaszi and Renata Kubala on violin, Mari Giske on viola, Gunnar Hauge on cello, Fredrik Blikeng on double bass and Gunnhild Tonder on harpsichord. The concert will be conducted and artistically directed by Croatian-Norwegian lutenist Jadran Duncumb.
Barokkanerne is an Oslo-based ensemble founded in 1989 and is today considered one of the leading collectives for performing baroque music in Norway.
