Ivan Šeb's 'Wedding' opened the 73rd Pula Film Festival in the Pula Arena on Thursday evening. The domestic hit, which has just passed the figure of 800,000 viewers, introduced the audience to the latest edition of the country's oldest film festival.
The Croatian competition programme will feature 11 films, with a total of 18 including co-productions from neighbouring countries. Two days of the festival are dedicated to animated film.
The jury, consisting of Vinko Brešan, Hrvoslava Brkušić, Tina Hajon, Tanja Lacko and Ivan Ramljak, will decide on the awards. The artistic director of the festival is Danijel Pek, with Vlatka Kolarović serving as director, and the programme is curated by Mario Kozina.
The festival will pay tribute to screenwriter and director Zrinko Ogresta, who passed away ahead of this year's edition.
The closing event will feature a special screening of a restored copy of Vinko Brešan's 'How the War Started on My Island', marking the 30th anniversary of the premiere.
