The Joza Ivakić City Theatre (Gradsko kazalište "Joza Ivakić") from Vinkovci will perform Edward Albee's comedy "Marriage Game" (Bračna igra) at Kazalište 21. The performance is scheduled for Tuesday, 3 November 2026, at 20:00, under the direction of Mario Kovač.

"Marriage Game" is a sort of sequel to Albee's most famous play, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?". It is a comedy by the celebrated and award-winning playwright Edward Albee, a recipient of three Pulitzer Prizes, three Tonys – one of which for lifetime achievement – and one Grammy.

The plot revolves around a middle-aged married couple on the brink of divorce after their children have grown up and moved out. The husband appears indifferent and has given up on their shared life, while the wife fights with all her might to stay together and try to rekindle old passions. Together, through tears and laughter, they recall various episodes of their shared life, from the beginnings of their love to the routine boredom after more than 20 years of marriage. Through these recollections, some previously hidden secrets, and even marital infidelities, come to light.

The text is by Edward Albee, the direction by Mario Kovač, and the translation by Jelena Pataki Šumiga. The cast includes Petra Kurtela and Šiško Horvat Majcan. The creative team also comprises composer Vid Novak Kralj, choreographer Branko Banković, costume designer Tena Jurišić and set designer Vladimir Andrić.

The comedy is being performed as part of the 19th Prolog festival.
