The 21st Anniversary Handball Tournament, dedicated to the memory of this handball player and captain of RK Sen, was held in the Sen sports hall named after Robert Bel. The tournament was organized by the Sen Handball Club, with the patronage of the Ministry of Veterans, the City of Sen, the Sports Association of the Lika-Senj County, and the Sports Association of the City of Sen.
The competition began at 14:00 with a match between RK Sen and RK Čavle, after which the tournament's opening ceremony took place at 15:00. At 15:45, MRK Kozal and RK Rudar-Labin faced each other, while the match for third place was played at 17:30, and the final at 19:00. The winners were announced at 20:00, with the trophy and awards presented, and the tournament closed.
In the semi-final, RK Sen defeated RK Čavle 26:25, while in the other semi-final, RK Kozal defeated RK Rudar 29:24. In the match for third place, RK Rudar defeated RK Čavle 24:22, and in the final, RK Sen defeated RK Kozal 28:24. The trophy thus remained in Sen.
The state secretary in the Ministry of Veterans, Darko Nekić, presented the trophies, awards, and certificates to the participants. The best player of the tournament was declared to be Daniel Dezeljin of RK Sen. The referee team for all matches consisted of Filip Šunjić, Ivica Botičan, and Toma Papić.
Before the sports competition, a mass was held in the Sen cathedral in memory of Robert, at 8:00. At 10:00, a delegation from the club, the state secretary in the Ministry of Veterans, the president of the City Council, Vice Nekić, the mayor of the city, Željko Tomljanović, and representatives of the veterans' associations laid flowers and lit candles at Robert's grave, as well as at the central cross in memory of all fallen veterans.
Robert Bel, a handball player and captain of RK Sen, died in the defense of the homeland in the military operation of Oluja, on 4 August. His name is given to the sports hall in Sen. He enrolled in the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb, but during his studies, he voluntarily joined the defense of the homeland. He was a member of the volunteer unit of students of the Faculty of Physical Education of the University of Zagreb, the MIG. After training at the Police Academy in Zagreb, he carried out combat duties with that unit, blocking the barracks in Borong, capturing the barracks of the JNA in Velika Bu, and the barracks of the JNA in Loga. He participated in the operations of Maslinica and Olu, but was killed in the 133rd Infantry Regiment of Otočac, near the village of Zalužnica, between Otoč and Plitvice. He was awarded the Memorial of the War, the posthumous Order of Peter Zrinski and Fran Krsto Frankopan, with a golden border, and the medal of the Olu, the highest recognition of the City of Sen.
