The Požeško-slavonska County Tourist Board has been awarded €300,000 in support from the Fund for Underdeveloped Tourist Areas and the Continent for this year, intended for balanced tourist development, reports Požega.eu.
The largest share, €120,000, was awarded to the project "Experience the Stories That Call". The project "Cultural Tourism in Operation" received €100,000, and the "Stage & Events 2026" programme was granted €80,000. The approved projects, among other things, include a larger number of tourist events in the county.
The Fund is an instrument of the Croatian National Tourist Board (Hrvatska turistička zajednica). Through public tenders, it allocates funds to tourist boards for developing offerings, promoting destinations, and organising events that attract visitors. The emphasis is on selective forms of tourism, education, and projects that raise the quality of content in destinations.
"Thus, we strive to reduce unevenness in tourist development, strengthen the recognisability of less developed areas, and encourage sustainable tourism across the territory of Croatia," stated the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ).
