Buzet’s municipal company, Park, is set to collect waste separately using a new electric truck. The town council has approved a short-term loan of €86,000 for the company to pay its share of the vehicle via financial leasing.
The loan bridges the gap between cash inflows and due payments, ensuring the company does not compromise its liquidity. Park had secured €86,000 in non-repayable grants from the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, which represents half of the estimated eligible costs for the purchase. The subsidy will be paid out by the fund within 30 days of the submission of complete documentation, while Park must pay its share within eight days of the vehicle's handover.
Following the public procurement process, the lease agreement was signed with BKS Leasing Croatia. Mayor Damir Kajin announced that the handover of the truck, which costs €228,000 including VAT, is expected to take place imminently.
Kajin noted that the company had acquired four new trucks, a new tractor, and two used cleaners over the past four years. He highlighted that Buzet, in terms of waste sorting, is clearly the best in Istria and among the top three most successful towns in Croatia, thanking director Ervin Kisiček and his staff for their work. The director added that the separation rate in Buzet has exceeded 60 percent over the last two years, which is why the company successfully secured 50 per cent co-financing, unlike other areas that have not achieved such results.
At the same meeting, the deputy commander of the local fire brigade, Denis Prodan, warned that fire vehicles are, on average, over 20 years old. He noted that the brigade is expecting a new forest fire vehicle from the relevant ministry, costing approximately €300,000.
