The Istrian ICT Association is organising a series of free STEM workshops for primary and secondary school students, as part of the 'Level Up STEM: Explore, Learn, Create' project. The workshops will take place in Pula, Fažana, Rovinj and Pazin, with the aim of introducing young people to STEM fields through practical learning and the use of new technologies.

Participants will be able to explore 3D design and 3D printing, robotics, computer science and mathematics, as well as discover biology and chemistry through video games. The programme begins on 8 October with a 'FabLab: STEM Idea Factory' workshop at the Technical Culture Community, to be held from 8:00 to 9:30 am. Students will be introduced to technologies such as 3D scanning and 3D printing, and will learn the basics of digital 3D modelling in the Tinkercad application, preparing models for printing and learning more about material recycling. The workshop is intended for primary and secondary school students.

The 'From Sketch to 3D Print' workshop will take place on 26 October at Fažana Primary School, and the following day at the primary school in Veliki Vrh. Students will go through the entire process through practical exercises, from the first idea and sketch to the final 3D print. On 21 October, workshops in biology, chemistry and mathematics will be held at the Rovinj Association of Technical Culture.

Robotics workshops will be held at Veruda Primary School on 14 and 28 October, while the IT segment will take place at the Faculty of Informatics in Pula on 22 and 29 October. The 'Mathematical Panopticon' workshop will take place at the Gymnasium and Secondary School of Juraj Dobrila in Pazin on 19, 23, 26 and 30 October.

Participation in all workshops is free, but prior registration is required due to limited places. A maximum of 15 students can participate in each workshop, with registrations accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. Participants who do not secure a place will be placed on a waiting list.

The 'Level Up STEM: Explore, Learn, Create' project is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), with a total project value of €299,149.24. The project runs from March 2025 to March 2028, with the Istrian ICT Association as the lead partner. It is implemented in partnership with the 'Istra' Mathematical Society, the Istria Robotics Society, the Algebra Bernays University, Veruda Primary School in Pula, the secondary school of Zvonimir and Zvonka, the technical culture community, and the foundation for promoting partnerships and civil society.
