As part of the 'Valpovo – The Cleanest City in Croatia' campaign, five interactive ecological workshops were held in Valpovo kindergartens during the past month. Through the 'Little Heroes of Cleanliness' programme, the youngest citizens learned about proper waste sorting, and by taking on the role of 'Eco-detectives', they transferred this knowledge to their households.
The project shifts its focus to older age groups in November. The first activity will be a new edition of the 'Flea Market Without Money', which will be held on the second Saturday of the month, 14 November, in the premises of Valpovo's Agropark from 10:00 to 12:00. The theme of this edition is the exchange of autumn and winter clothing and footwear, and organisers are making a special appeal to younger generations to participate actively.
For each item of clothing or footwear brought, participants receive a coupon with which they can take another item from the stand. This encourages direct exchange among citizens, without monetary transactions.
Also in November, educational activities begin at Valpovo Secondary School. The project team has prepared formats tailored to the interests and age of secondary school students. Students can expect digital pub quizzes on the topic of greenwashing.
In addition, simulations in the form of a detective Escape Room on sustainable waste management are planned. Students will also participate in technological courts where, through a debate format, they will discuss the right to repair electronic devices and the problem of e-waste.
