The Valpovo City Tourist Board participated this year in activities aimed at greening the tourist destination and developing sustainable tourism, as part of the 'Croatia Naturally Yours' project implemented by the Croatian Tourist Board (Hrvatska turistička zajednica).
In accordance with the Cooperation Agreement for the implementation of the Project, the Valpovo City Tourist Board was allocated funds for the purchase of tree seedlings. The obligation was to plant at least 10 seedlings with a minimum height of 140 cm, and a total of 13 sycamore maple seedlings (Acer platanoides L.) were planted as part of this year's activity.
The planting was carried out in cooperation with Fuderer Ornamental Plant Nursery from Valpovo, at a location next to the NK Tomislav football stadium in Šaga. When selecting the species, consideration was given to its adaptation to the local climate and growing conditions, as well as the importance of planting in visible locations within the destination.
The aim of the project is to plant additional tree seedlings in tourist destinations to reduce the carbon footprint generated by tourist activities, particularly exhaust gas emissions from tourists' cars. The project simultaneously encourages the development of sustainable tourism and the branding and promotion of Croatia as a sustainable tourist destination.
The planting of 13 new trees further contributes to the greening of the space, environmental protection and the creation of a more pleasant environment for residents and visitors.
