Police officers on Sunday stopped a 47-year-old man in Koprivnica who was riding an electric scooter under the influence of 2.20 per mille of alcohol. The stop took place on Sunday at 19.10 in Miklinovec Street, and the police immediately removed him from traffic. A misdemeanour procedure will be initiated against him.
During the same period, a 46-year-old driver of a car with Križevci registration plates was arrested for a similar offence. On Friday, 18 July, at 23.15, he was driving a vehicle in Bjelovarska Street in Križevci, with 2.16 per mille of alcohol in his blood. The driver was brought before the competent misdemeanour court on Sunday.
The police proposed that the 46-year-old be sentenced to 30 days in prison and that 15 days of detention in prison be ordered. A protective measure banning the driving of category B motor vehicles for three months was also requested. In the expedited misdemeanour procedure, the driver was heard and released by decision, and the court will make a final decision on sanctions subsequently.
The police have called on all drivers of personal transport to contribute to the safety of all road users through responsible behaviour and compliance with traffic regulations. It is particularly emphasised that drivers must not operate vehicles under the influence of alcohol, which is crucial for preventing traffic accidents and protecting life on the roads.
