A working atmosphere prevailed in the afternoon on the General Department of the 'Nikola Zrinski' Library in Čakovec today. A workshop titled 'Tea with the Crocheters' was held, organised by participants in the 'Crocheters in the Library' programme.
The event gathered numerous handcraft enthusiasts, ranging from complete beginners to more experienced makers. Deputy Mayor of the City of Čakovec, Lana Remar, attended the creative gathering. Participants had the opportunity to master the basics of crochet, exchange ideas and learn useful tips and tricks over warm tea and relaxed conversation. All necessary materials and accessories were provided in advance.
Librarian Sandra Mikac was responsible for organising the event, opening the creative afternoon with an appropriate address. Librarian Ana Barić leads the 'Crocheters in the Library' programme. The 'Crocheters in the Library' group has been active in the Čakovec library for seven years, with participants meeting every Wednesday in the afternoon on the Specialist Department to work according to their own plan and programme. The programme is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia.
Sandra Mikac highlighted that the crocheters have already carried out several campaigns. They regularly supply Croatian maternity wards with 'hobbies', participate in marking Alzheimer's Disease Day and collaborate with the Vrapče Psychiatric Clinic by creating various tapestries as therapeutic aids for people with dementia.
Currently, they are focused on creating crocheted stories, which they will offer to schools and kindergartens at the end of the year.
