In Sumartin, on Tuesday, 29 July, the 'Fake Wedding' event was held for the first time, with the local community acting as hosts. The event was organised by the St. Martin Association, which managed to gather a large number of local residents, as well as guests from all over the island of Brač. The centre of the town was transformed into a true wedding celebration, filled with song, dance, laughter, and a wonderful atmosphere that lasted late into the night, accompanied by music and socialising.
The programme included a mock wedding ceremony, which was the central part of the event. A special attraction of the evening was the four-metre-high wedding cake, which became one of the most photographed features of the event. Following the cutting of the cake, the traditional bouquet toss took place, symbolically marking the climax of the celebration.
The strong response and positive feedback from visitors clearly showed that Sumartin has gained a new, successful event. The organisers believe that the event will be held annually, and that in the coming years it will attract an even larger number of participants. The aim is for the 'Fake Wedding' to become one of the hallmarks of summer on Brač.
The organisers thanked all the volunteers, donors, participants, and visitors for their support. They believe that such events bring people together and enrich the social life on the island, creating new shared memories and strengthening local identity through cultural events.
