Patients suffering from cancer and their family members often seek answers to questions about nutrition during oncological treatment in pharmacies. To provide them with reliable information, two master's degree holders in pharmacy employed by Ljekarnama Zagrebačke županije (Pharmacies of Zagreb County), who are also university specialists in nutrition, have prepared materials for a guide on the nutrition of cancer patients.
The need for such a guide stems from the fact that numerous side effects of cancer treatment make adequate food consumption difficult. This can complicate the treatment process itself, as well as patient recovery, which is why proper nutrition is an important part of care.
The guide provides information on how to manage treatment side effects that affect nutrition. It also explains how to plan nutritious meals and how to prepare and store them safely.
The materials are distributed free of charge to patients and their family members or caregivers when oncological therapy and enteral nutrition are dispensed at all branches of Ljekarnama Zagrebačke županije. The guide is also distributed at panel events organised throughout Zagreb County.
The panels provide an opportunity to answer questions about the dietary challenges brought by cancer treatment through dialogue with cancer patients, oncologists, master's degree holders in pharmacy and nutritionists. One such panel will be held at the Cultural and Information Centre Dugo Selo, Josipa Zorića 5, on Thursday 05. studenog 2026. starting at 17.00 sati.
