The Tourism Inspectorate of the State Inspectorate is conducting enhanced inspections from 20 April to ensure the successful implementation of the tourism season for 2026. This measure is aimed at protecting lawful business, combating the shadow economy, and preventing unfair competition in the hospitality and accommodation market.
The inspections are primarily focused on identifying unregistered advertising on online platforms and preventing the provision of hospitality services in private households without the necessary registration. The planning of these activities was based on data collected from reports by local tourist boards, as well as a detailed analysis and comparison of data from the State Treasury with information available on online platforms.
By 20 July 2026, the Inspectorate will have completed a total of 1,441 inspections. Irregularities were identified in 122 cases, primarily involving the unregistered provision of services and/or illegal advertising of accommodation. As a sanction, properties such as houses, apartments, and hostels where violations were found have been sealed.
The irregularities were recorded across a wide geographical area, covering 18 locations. Among the locations where inspections were carried out are Jursić, Zagreb, Samobor, Bjelovar, Ogulin, Karlovac, Sisak, Primišlje, Sesvete, Dugo Selo, Koransko Selo, Nova Gradiška, Raspo, Bak, Jadran, Dram, Rab, and Pula.
