A group of ten experts stayed in Ston from 28 to 30 August. The stay was organised in collaboration with the Ston local community, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County tourist board, and the DNA Croatia association. The participants were professionals from various parts of the world, including the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Montenegro, Moldova, and Malaysia. All participants are experts whose work is based on the use of digital technologies, independent of physical location, making them ideal representatives of the modern workforce mobile through digital networks.
During their stay, the participants had the opportunity to meet the local community and the environment from a perspective that goes beyond the usual tourist experience. The programme included guided tours through Ston and the saltworks, as well as a traditional salt harvest, accompanied by a rich cultural programme. The aim of such encounters was to introduce participants to the local heritage, culture, and way of life, while simultaneously promoting Ston and the wider Pelješac area as an attractive destination for long stays, remote work, and year-round tourism.
The finale of this specific festival, titled 'Cultural Landscapes of Adriatic Salt Pans: Heritage, Community and Future', will take place on 12 and 13 September. The symposium, led by the Ston Saltworks Association and the Amorette Association, is organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Media and Media of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the second Croatian and European Union. In addition, the project is supported by the local administration of the Municipality of Ston, the Ston local community, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County tourist board, the Croatian National Tourist Board, and many other sponsors, ensuring comprehensive support for the preservation of cultural heritage and the promotion of the local community.
