The saga of the crushed stone deposited on the land between Ludbreg and the nearby Vinogradi, close to the hot spring, is set to conclude soon. The material is now being used for road repairs, and conditions have been established for its removal and subsequent use in municipal works.

The town of Ludbreg has agreed with HŽ that the material generated during the reconstruction of the Koprivnica–Varaždin railway line would be provided to the town free of charge for the purpose of maintaining municipal infrastructure. The crushed stone was delivered to the land near the hot spring, a move that sparked outrage among some residents who believed it to be hazardous waste. Consequently, a complaint was lodged with the State Inspectorate.

The town authorities state that a laboratory test of the samples showed that the material was not hazardous waste. The delivery of the crushed stone has now been completed, and a survey has been conducted confirming that 14,338 cubic metres of the material have been deposited on the site.

The Mayor of Ludbreg, Dubravko Bilić, stated that conditions are now in place for the removal of the crushed stone and its use for road repairs and other municipal infrastructure. The next step is to agree on an operational plan for the removal with the relevant authorities, outlining the priorities and locations where the material will be used, as well as establishing a timeline for the works.

Once all the material has been removed, the land will be restored to its original state. This should bring the whole story, which has drawn public attention in Ludbreg and the surrounding area over the past few months, to a close.
