The government has extended the subsidisation of heating energy prices for households until 31 March 2027. The decision covers the period from 1 October this year to the end of March next year and was adopted in accordance with the 11th package of measures to assist citizens.

Subsidisation will continue for all final customers of heating energy, except those who use it predominantly for business purposes. Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar said the aim of the measure is to protect citizens from rising energy costs and ensure that heating energy remains affordable.

The level of the subsidy will depend on the type of heating system and the tariff model. For central heating systems, the subsidy will be determined by the difference between the final price of heating energy in force on 1 October 2026 and the price in force on 30 September 2026.

For closed and independent heating systems, the subsidy will be calculated based on the positive difference in fuel procurement costs between two heating seasons, namely the period from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 and the same period one year earlier. The calculation will use the reference quantities of delivered heating energy from the previous heating season.

Subsidies will be visible on monthly bills, and the unit amounts of the subsidies have been determined on the basis of calculations by the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency (HERA). Šušnjar said the subsidy will be displayed directly on monthly bills, thereby ensuring an immediate reduction in the amount paid by final customers.

HERA will verify applications and make decisions on compensation amounts, while the Ministry of Economy will be responsible for disbursing the funds.
