The sixth meeting of the Neretva Valley's spiritual vocations will take place on Wednesday, 29 July, in Opuzen. The traditional event, which gathers believers from the wider area, will be hosted by the parish of St. Stephen the First Martyr in Opuzen. This gathering represents an important moment for the church community, highlighting the importance of continuous care for the clergy and religious life.
The meeting programme begins at 9:30 with the gathering of participants. At 10:00 the faithful will attend the solemn eucharistic celebration led by Mons. Marin Barišić, the retired archbishop. Following the mass, a communal gathering with a suitable reception is planned for all those present, contributing to the strengthening of the community among participants.
The aim of this meeting is to offer joint prayer and gratitude for the existing spiritual vocations, as well as to encourage new calls within families and parish communities. The meeting brings together priests, religious sisters, and lay people from the Neretva valley, highlighting the importance of spiritual life in everyday action.
There are currently 50 priests and 60 religious sisters active in the Neretva valley region. Four (arch) bishops are also currently residing in the area. In addition to the regular clergy, four candidates for the priesthood are active in the region, indicating that there are active processes of preparation for future church ministers.
