The Rab Fiera is celebrating its 25th edition this year. The event, described as one of the most substantial to date, was outlined by the City of Rab. The medieval-themed programme, which has gathered hundreds of participants and thousands of visitors for a quarter of a century, sees this year's edition marked by the signing of a charter with partner cities, guests from Argentina, and a final spectacle featuring a firework display and a concert by the Gipsy Kings.
The charter will be signed by Rab with San Marino, Monteguidi, Kötschach-Mauthausen, Kočevje, and Sežana. This is a tribute to the cities that have participated in the creation and development of the Fiera over the years. Additionally, on 26 July, charters will be renewed with Kočevje, Sežana, and the city of Sežana. Rab has been collaborating with Kočevje for 40 years, with Sežana for 20, and with the third partner for 30 years.
The jubilee was also presented in Ljubljana, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and the representative office of the Croatian National Tourist Board in Slovenia. The project, titled Transaquam Medium, was launched at the time. The director of the local tourist board, Ivana Matuš, stated that the campaign is targeted at Slovenia, Austria, and Germany. The aim, she said, is to convey the 'authentic spirit of Rab from 1364' to potential guests.
The director of the local public institution, Katarina Ribarić, highlighted that the festival showcases cultural heritage in its original form through approximately a hundred workshops. The programme will be enriched by the Croatian community from Buenos Aires. The infrastructure for the event is being prepared by the municipal enterprise Dundovo.
The jubilee will conclude with a spectacular finale on the last evening of the three-day celebration. Following the knightly tournament by the Rab Crossbowmen Association, the sky above the port will be illuminated by a firework display synchronized with music. On the Municipality Square, the Gipsy Kings will perform.
