Associations KA-MATRIX and AKC Attack are organising a sound workshop titled "Hidden Frequencies: Resonating with the City". The workshop will take place on Friday and Saturday, 6 and 7 November, in the ATTACK association space at the Medika Autonomous Cultural Centre, 11 Pierottijeva Street in Zagreb, as well as at several public outdoor locations across the city centre.

The workshop will be led by Brussels-based artist and audio practitioner Iva Galović. Participation is free, but the number of participants is limited due to specific equipment requirements. Applications can be submitted via email to denis.kmtrx@gmail.com.

The workshop involves sound research focused on exploring hidden electromagnetic frequencies and inductions in the city, operating on two levels to examine different types of reality and their interrelations. The first part of the workshop will involve a small, focused group using specialised microphones and devices designed to record otherwise inaudible electromagnetic inductions produced by various electrical devices, such as street lamps, ATMs and hidden electrical installations.

During sound walks, inspired by the pioneering work of Christine Kubisch and her "Electric Walks", participants will identify and record electromagnetic frequencies and inductions inaudible to the human ear, transforming the inaudible into an accessible auditory experience. In the second part of the workshop, the sounds will be uploaded to an online platform, where they will be organised into a digital map of the city and made available to the public. The digital map will serve as an accessible portal for exploring the hidden soundscape of Zagreb from anywhere in the world.

Iva Galović has been researching various aspects of art since her early years, with a particular interest in audiovisual and musical forms. She completed a degree in art history at the Faculty of Philosophy and has participated in exhibitions and worked on numerous audiovisual and cultural projects in Croatia, Thailand, China, Italy, Germany and Belgium, where she currently lives and works. She also completed a postgraduate degree in EPAS (European Postgraduate in Arts in Sound) in Ghent.

The programme is implemented by the KA-MATRIX association in cooperation with the ATTACK association and co-organised with the Clubture alliance under the Clubture-HR: Programme Exchange and Cooperation programme. The programme is supported by the City Office for Culture, Inter-city and International Cooperation and Civil Society of the City of Zagreb, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the Kultura nova Foundation and the National Foundation for the Development of Civil Society through the Knowledge Centres programme.
