More than 900 participants gathered on Saturday for the third edition of the Korčula Run charity race, held in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The race is organised by the Korčula – Healthy City Association, and this year’s edition combined sport, the promotion of health awareness, and a humanitarian drive.

This year’s Korčula Run had a specific humanitarian goal – to assist the Botica family from Račišće. The family has three daughters, one of whom has special needs, and the father recently passed away. Participants showed through running and walking how united Korčula can be when help is needed.

Races were held over 3km and 5km distances. In the men’s category, Malishi Lish from South Africa took first place, followed by Tonči Borovac in second, and Thomas Šola in third. Among the women, Rita Biliš was the fastest, Tessa Garside took second place, while Ivana Bilić and Damara Grgić shared third place.

Joško Cebalo, deputy county prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, also participated in the race. The gathering of more than 900 participants confirmed that the Korčula Run has become one of the island’s significant sports and humanitarian events, with this year’s edition further highlighting the importance of solidarity and health care.
