Police in the German town of Mühlheim, located near Frankfurt, investigated an unusual case of a security alarm being triggered. The incident occurred in the western German town, with an official statement released on Tuesday, the day after the alarm was activated during the night.
According to available information, the suspect, likely, slipped into the premises the previous day and accidentally remained trapped inside the shop after it closed to the public. During the night, the animal explored the premises, which led to the activation of the security system. Police officers were immediately dispatched to determine the cause of the alarm.
The officers found the animal in the entrance area of the shop. Staff described the incident in a humorous tone, noting that it was a 'quadruped, small round intruder' which, it was believed, had no criminal intentions. It was a hedgehog, which had accidentally spent the night in the building.
