The fire broke out on Thursday, 16 July, around 13:00, in the attic of a family home in Ivanc, Varaždin County, police reported. The house is owned by a 68-year-old man.
An investigation determined that the cause was heat transfer from a metal flue to the wooden cladding of the roof and the roof structure. The fire spread to the entire roof and the interior of the attic, which, according to police, were completely burned.
Three volunteer fire brigades participated in the extinguishing: DVD Ivanc, DVD Mrga, and DVD Bedenec. Their firefighters managed to extinguish the roof.
The material damage is estimated at tens of thousands of euros. No injuries were reported, and the police informed the public after the completion of the on-site investigation.
