Osnovna škola 'Vitomir Širola - Pajo' from Nedešćina has secured significant non-repayable funding for the implementation of extracurricular activities as a preparation for the introduction of an all-day school programme. The funding was allocated through the 'Support for primary schools through the implementation of extracurricular activities as a preparation for the all-day school programme' call, which is implemented within the framework of the Effective Human Resources 2021–2027 programme.
This programme is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), confirming the importance of EU funds for the development of local educational infrastructure. The total amount of allocated non-repayable funding is €81,090.00, with the project approved for 100 per cent funding. This ensures that the school does not bear additional costs associated with the implementation of the planned activities.
The school’s project is titled 'Active Students – School for Knowledge, Skills and Community'. The project will run for two academic years, with the primary aim of enriching the school curriculum through the development of a wide range of competencies. Special attention is paid to the development of digital, STEM, linguistic, artistic, and life skills among students.
A total of 22 new extracurricular activities will be implemented as part of the project. One of the key initiatives is the establishment of a School Digital Media Club, while students will have the opportunity to engage in programming and 3D modelling. Technical skills will be further developed through technical projects and model making, while natural science competencies will be nurtured within the 'Young Naturalists' activity.
Special emphasis is placed on promoting volunteering, solidarity, and active citizenship within the local community. To this end, activities such as the 'Good Deeds Studio' and the 'Open Book Club' are being launched. The social and cultural dimension of the project also includes the work of the Eco Group, the Folk Group, and the Healthy Habits Club.
Students' language skills will be developed through the English Explorers Club, contributing to a holistic approach to education. Through this project, the school in Nedešćina is not only preparing the conditions for all-day care for students but also expanding their interests and abilities beyond the standard classroom lessons.
