The 19th Šoltanska regata, a traditional cruising sailing event, is being held this weekend, 24 and 25 October 2026, in Split and the waters around the island of Šolta. This year, the regatta was moved from its original early October date to the very end of the month due to unfavourable weather conditions.
The change of date and the autumn bura winds did not deter the crews, who started precisely at 11:00 on Saturday from the Zenta harbour in Split towards Stomorska. The main organiser is the Zenta Sailing Club, in cooperation with the Rusmarin association and local sponsors.
Due to rain forecasts and wind, the organisers had to adapt the accompanying programme, cancelling the traditional folk festival in the open space of Žala in Stomorska. However, the hosts ensured that sailors were welcomed with a warm and cordial atmosphere in the indoor space of the Old School, featuring local gastronomic delicacies and socialising.
Saturday thus saw the start from Split, off Zenta, and a navigational sail to Stomorska bay on Šolta, while Sunday features the return leg from Stomorska back to the finish line off Zenta harbour. The competition is conducted under the World Sailing regatta rules for the 2025–2028 period and the special safety regulations of the Croatian Sailing Federation (Hrvatski jedriličarski savez) for offshore regatta category 4, with results scored under the OPEN cruising classification.
Entry is limited to crews who secured their place in time, as the capacity of the Stomorska port is traditionally restricted.
