Apple is expected to unveil the base iPhone 18 in early 2027, with available information suggesting the device will bring two significant upgrades — a larger battery and a new SoC. The exact launch date is currently unknown.
According to Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, the battery capacity of the iPhone 18 is not yet known, but it will certainly be larger. Combined with a more efficient SoC, the battery should provide longer autonomy.
The base iPhone 18 is reportedly set to use a slightly less powerful version of Apple’s A20 processor. The chip is manufactured using TSMC’s 2-nanometre production process, and the device is expected to deliver better performance and energy efficiency compared to the iPhone 17.
The reduced Dynamic Island is reportedly reserved for more expensive models, with a new price hike mentioned for the base model. The exact amount of the increase is not yet known, but it is worth noting that the iPhone 17 was already $100 more expensive than its predecessor.
Apple changed its usual smartphone launch schedule this year, unveiling only the iPhone 18 Pro models in September. The base iPhone 18 is expected in early 2027, with no current information on when it might go on sale.
