The fifth edition of the SQUID GAME 2026 competition was held in Slano, with 227 competitors participating in 71 teams. A total of 326 squid were caught during the competition, with a combined mass of 30.720 kilograms.

In the main competition, the most successful team was TRIO NEVIDIO I ANICA, comprising Ivica Duždević, Mario Falkoni, Alen Šarić and Anica Boban. Second place went to the team ULIGNJI MLJET, consisting of Petar Kunić, Petar Palunčić and Marko Stojanović, who caught 21 squid and achieved a mass of 2.790 kilograms. The top two teams were thus separated by just 65 grams, meaning the winner's advantage was 0.065 kilograms.

Third place was taken by the team BUS, comprising Lukša Feregja, Božo Kaciga and Vlaho Butjer. They caught eight squid and achieved a total mass of 1.175 kilograms. The largest squid of the competition was caught by Petar Kunić, a member of the second-placed team ULIGNJI MLJET, and weighed 0.490 kilograms.

In the women's competition, first place was won by the team ORILO GORILO JEBE SE NAMI with a catch of 1.105 kilograms and 20 squid. Second place went to the team FEENA RAYA with 0.525 kilograms, and third to the team NE SE BOJ with 0.475 kilograms. The winning team thus achieved a catch more than double that of the second-placed FEENA RAYA.

The competition was held on Saturday, 31 October, and was organised by the Sportsko ribolovno ekološko društvo „Šijun” Slano (Sport Fishing Ecological Society "Šijun" Slano). The event traditionally brings together participants from the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, other parts of Croatia and neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina.

One of the organisers, Petar Lončar, highlighted that the Slano wave is exceptionally suitable for this type of event. He also stressed that for the organisers, the quantity of squid caught is not the most important factor, but rather the atmosphere, friendships and exchange of experiences among participants.
