Company DRACO has submitted an application for a building permit for the planned production plant in Jastrebarsko, having previously obtained all necessary confirmations. As the application has been filed, the permit issuance procedure is now led by Zagreb County.
A meeting of the Working Group for Project Monitoring was convened on this occasion, at which DRACO director Oliver Vuco presented the main project to the members. The main project concerns the construction of a plant for the production of bitumen-based building products, is consistent with all documentation submitted to date, complies with the confirmations issued by public law bodies, and does not deviate from the solution previously presented to the public. The planned production capacity remains 8,064 tonnes annually.
The company currently has no plans to expand the plant. Should a need for project changes arise in the future, they would have to undergo the procedures and appropriate processes before the competent authorities. The main project further elaborates the fire protection system, aligned with the requirements of the competent services, and it was this part that generated the greatest interest among the members of the working group – representatives of the Čabdin and Donja Jaska local councils.
Working Group Chair Velimir Kokot emphasised that the body’s primary task is to monitor the project and inform the public about its progress, which will continue in the future. The working group will continue to operate within its remit, and DRACO will provide it with information regarding the issuance of the building permit and the planned construction timelines.
Kokot also reminded members of the Agreement concluded with DRACO at the proposal of the Working Group. Under this agreement, the company will submit reports on project progress and environmental emissions during construction, and a monitoring station for tracking air quality will be installed during project implementation. The measurement results will be publicly available.
The Agreement confirms that there will be no relocation of the technology of company Hidroizolacija Katran to Jastrebarsko, nor the use of technology related to tar processing. Zagreb County has confirmed that the procedure for assessing the need for an environmental impact assessment was conducted in accordance with the law, and DRACO has also provided additional statements on the project’s impact on health and the environment. The working group will continue to monitor further steps in the project’s realisation, in line with its tasks and assumed obligations.
