A ceremony was held at the Sinj City Red Cross Society to mark the Day of Voluntary Blood Donors, during which thank-you letters and awards were presented to multiple donors who had reached significant anniversaries.
Awards were received by donors from the cities of Sinj and Trilj, as well as the municipalities of Dicmo, Hrvace and Otok, covering the entire catchment area of the Sinj Red Cross.
Among the honourees, Zvonko stood out for donating this vital fluid a remarkable 100 times. Such a high number of donations is rare even among the most dedicated voluntary donors, and it is precisely these donors who have reached significant milestones that form the backbone of safe blood supplies in the healthcare system.
The ceremony was organised as part of the commemoration of the Day of Voluntary Blood Donors, an annual occasion dedicated to recognising people who donate blood voluntarily and without compensation, often over many years.
The presentation of thank-you letters and awards to multiple donors is a traditional part of the Red Cross's work, and this year's honourees share a common trait: long-standing dedication to blood donation.
The Sinj City Red Cross Society stated that such awards also serve an encouraging role, as every new donor contributes to the stability of the vital fluid supplies needed for patient treatment.
