Firefighters intervened at the Petrokem factory in Kutina on Wednesday, where a fire broke out. Reports of the incident were received at 15:00, and a total of 30 firefighters responded. The operation was carried out using 15 fire engines, which indicated the seriousness of the situation despite the incident being relatively minor within the larger industrial complex.
The fire affected a conveyor belt within the factory complex. Experts managed to localise the fire at 16:45, thereby preventing the spread of flames to the rest of the plant. Although the primary danger was averted, additional forces remained on standby throughout the operation. In reserve were 23 further firefighters, deployed in two separate teams, of which one team had seven members and the other three, ensuring a rapid response in the event of a worsening of the situation.
