Google has unveiled an upgrade to Gemini that enables users to work more easily with documents, presentations, spreadsheets and other file types. Gemini was previously able to generate various file types, but the new functionality expands this process by allowing subsequent editing.
Users can now request the creation of a presentation on a specific topic, review its content within the conversation and then manually modify individual sections or ask the AI to adjust the structure, style and tone of the text. The finished presentation can be opened in Google Slides or downloaded in PPTX and PDF formats.
A similar approach is available for spreadsheets. Gemini can generate structured tables, logs, plans and simple data models, which users can review and refine before opening them in Google Sheets. Documents, PDFs, Markdown and TXT files, as well as programming code, are also supported, with editing possible either manually or via additional text prompts.
Browsing and editing PDFs are available on the web and in Android and iOS apps. Documents, spreadsheets, presentations and the other listed formats are currently supported only on the web.
The new functionality is available to users with personal Google accounts, Workspace Individual subscribers and Google Workspace users. Google states that the feature is supported in all languages where Gemini is available, meaning it also works in Croatia.
